In todays Marketing Minute, we'll take a look at securing your website through HTTPS.

You may have heard a lot of talk lately about HTTPS and the security of your landscaping website and wondered if it was really necessary.

The simple answer is Yes.

Let's take a look at what Google said about Https in their Security Blog on February 8, 2018

A secure web is here to stay.

For the past several years, we’ve moved toward a more secure web by strongly advocating that sites adopt HTTPS encryption. And within the last year, we’ve also helped users understand that HTTP sites are not secure by gradually marking a larger subset of HTTP pages as “not secure”. Beginning in July 2018 with the release of Chrome 68, Chrome will mark all HTTP sites as “not secure”.

Traditionally HTTPS was used by E-commerce retailers or anyone else accepting online payments. It ensured that sensitive, confidential payment details were sent securely to prevent them being stolen by malicious hacking activities.

However, improving online security has become increasingly important in recent years. Google especially has been at the forefront of this drive. So much so that Google announced that HTTPS is a factor in their ranking algorithm which has accelerated the switch to HTTPS.

Therefore HTTPS is strongly recommended. It will reassure your visitors, improve your search ranking, and most importantly, help secure your website.

Your web hosting provider can make the necessary changes to add a HTTPS security certificate to your landscaping website.
